Custom wood shutters with 3" elliptical (contoured, not square) louvers. The styles (sides) are 2" X 1 1/8" and the rails (tops and bottoms) are 1 7/8". The rails and styles are joined using 3/8" hardwood dowels (at least 3 in every joint).

 

Louver tension is achieved by using a patented tension control, put on every third louver (this assures that the louvers don’t loosen or “flop” down). This is opposed to using a wood screw to keep tension (this usually loosens or strips over time). With the changes in seasons wood expands and contracts. The patented tension control allows for consistent operation.

 

The finish on the shutters is a 3 process catalyzed lacquer finish. Every piece is primed and sanded before assembly. (This seals the grain of every louver and reduces the risk of warp age). After the initial priming a first coat of lacquer is applied. This coat of lacquer is sanded and final coat is then applied. This assures a finish that is highly resistant to chipping, or cracking.

 

The optional framing is 3/4" X 2". This is excellent for finishing the outside edge of the windows or hiding any construction irregularities, such as, a window being out of square.

 

The shutters are made of top quality materials and are warranted against any manufactures defects. This includes the professional installation and the finish.
