Shades are very good solution for a window where you want a minimal amount of stacking space. When they are up they take up less space than any other type of blind. This is an excellent advantage for rooms with a view. Another feature "most" shades offer are their insulating values. Depending on the type of fabric chosen, the heat can be kept in in the winter and the sunlight kept out in the summer.

Fabric roller shade
Roller Shades
These are one of the most affordable forms of window coverings, whether they are fabric or vinyl. Also, you can add decorative bottom hems and trims to enhance their style.

Fabric pleated shade
Pleated Shades
Most easily described as almost looking like an accordion from a side view. These shades offer a reasonable price point and good insulating values. An option to raise the shade from the bottom up allows light into the room, but still offers privacy.( ex.kitchen nooks and bathrooms).

Honeycomb or cellular shade
Honey Comb or Cellular Shades
These shades, unlike the pleated shades have no visible cords or holes. There are single, double and triple honeycombs, all of which come with different pleat sizes and fabric choices. When the shade is down a barrier of air between your window and the shade is created. These are commonly used for windows that get a lot of sunlight; such as skylights and southern exposures. (These shades are also available with the option to be raised from the bottom up).

Roman shade pulled up
Roman Shades
Roman shades offer a very casual and simple look. They have the option of being flat when they are down or they can have a "Waterfall" effect. With the waterfall, folds almost like what they would look like when the shade was up are permantly sewn into the shade. The end result is a shade with a soft subtle fullness while down. (very similar to the pictures for Vignette below).

Vignette shades
Vignette Shades ®
These shades from Hunter Douglas are very similar to a waterfall roman shade. They offer three different fold sizes, a wide fabric selection, and stack neatly into their own headrail.

Silouette shades
Silouette Shades ®
These are an innovative shade created by Hunter Douglas. These sheer shades are quite unique in that they allow you to see out while still offering a 63% U.V. blockage! When they are closed they offer complete prviacy and approximately a 98% U.V. blockage. This is the most versatile of all the shades options (excellent for windows with a view).

Luminette shades
Luminette Shades ®
Also from Hunter Douglas, these shades work on all of the same attributes as the Silouette except the vanes run up and down not side to side. The Luminette shades are excellent for applications where mounting inside the window is not possible.
